Though we continue to woe the absence of cyber law in Pakistan, Islamabad police has established cyber-crime unit for avoiding local internet criminal offenses.
Islamabad Police have established a cyber-crime unit to deal with cyber, online and electronic crimes effectively. Following the directions from Inspector General of Islamabad Police Bani Amin Khan This unit has been established, under the supervision of DIG Headquarters Sultan Azam Temuri, reported Dunya News.
According to police sources, this unit will perform as specialized unit of Islamabad Police to deal with all crimes/investigations related to technology. While AIG Operations Tahir Alam Khan and Director-IT will also assist to ensure its smooth functioning.
The major responsibilities of cyber-crime unit includes:
to exclusively assist the investigating officers in cyber/electronic crimes committed through email, social network or any mean of electronic/website defacement
To be accountable for forensic of digital evidence and its confidentiality.
This specific unit will be connected with CID, Special Division and Functional divisions of Islamabad Police to investigate the internet criminal activities.
