How to Apply/Remove Disqus 2012 and Avoid Comments Count Override

Monday, October 29, 2012

As discussed previously about adding comments counter below post title on blogger and other platforms. I recently decided to use Disqus but faced an issue related to overriding of comments count. By default Disqus adds comments count below post body but since I was using comments counter below post title already, immediately after implementing Disqus on blogger it started showing me two comments counter one below post title and the other below post body. I tried to remove the code of comments count but it disappeared both of them.

I think I am the first who has learned this to do it on blogger blog because I searched the whole web but could not find any tweak to resolve the override issue of Disqus comments counts. But I was not disappointed what I did that I tried to understand the code and implemented it as I thought. Luckily for me it worked like a charm. One thing I would like to request here that DO NOT COPY IT please as it would really hurt me.

There are two parts and we have to do it one by one. So here is the simply tweak that will help you to remove the comment count of Disqus and keep the one that you need already on your blog.

As always Sign in to your Blogger Account, Go to Dashboard, Layout, Edit HTML, Expand Widget Templates. Make sure you backup your template and save a copy of it.

How to Fix the Override Issue of Disqus 2012 Comment Counter on Blogger

expr:href='data:post.url + &quot;#disqus_thread&quot;'/></div>
<!--Disqus Comment Count End-->

<font style='background:transparent no-repeat scroll top left;padding-left:0px;font-weight: bold;font-size:12px;'><data:post.dateHeader/></font>
<span class='post-comment-link' style='Float:right;'>
               </span>

Customization for Disqus 2012 Comment Counter

Notice you can also make it float left or right or even center. You can change the font family, font color, font size, you can make it bold or keep it simple and if you wish you can attach an image with it as well.

Unverifiable Illegal SIMs Declared Terrorist's Dangerous Weapons in Pakistan: Rehman Malik

Sunday, October 28, 2012

Rehman Malik mentioned that Illegal SIMs are lethal weapons of Terrorists in Pakistan. He has taken action against illegal SIMs and will order all GSM Operators in Pakistan after approval from government to block all unverifiable prepaid SIMs across the country.

As reported earlier Launch of Cyber-Crime Unit in Islamabad for monitoring activities of terrorists via email/electronic filters and arresting them and PTA Has Allocated 14 LDIs Such as PTCL to Set Up Tracking Equipments. Rehman Malik cancelled the Eid holidays of FIA forensic agents to prevent the country from crime scenes by tracking IMEI numbers and arresting them.

He also mentioned that Terrorists failed on first Eid day who were doing the remote control bombing by using illegal SIMs. Most of the people appreciated his stance where he requested the general public via his tweets to suggest him if illegals sims be blocked which are unverifiable.

I hv already cancelled the holidays of FIA forensic team to reach crime scene. @Saiif: @SenRehmanMalik track out IMEI numberand arrest them

Request for views if.we may consider to ask the mob service providers to block all the pre-paid sims and reopen subject to verifiable ID .

To me it seems very appealing and all operators will be ordered for sure to block all unverifiable sims in bulk activities and helplines of these operators will suffer from a long queues, where customers will have trouble connecting to them on UANs for complaints.

suggestions on pre paid sims noted assure all ofu that govt will take fool proof measures to block such illegal Sims/lethal weapon.

He also wanted all stake holders of operators to be on board for the blocking action that is going to take place for the first time in Pakistan.

My appreciation for twitters members for their suggestions on pre paid illegal sims. All stake holders are to be on board before decision

Purchasing of Animals for Sacrifice From The Online Goat Markets

In Karachi, demand for goats and cows for sacrifice has especially been low following an economic meltdown and fears of unrest in the outlying areas of Karachi City. Various animal traders have returned to their native areas including interior Sindh and Punjab without selling their cows because of poor situation of law and order and unstable business in the cattle market of the City, reported The Nation today.

Though traditional animal dealers continue to wait for buyers, a large number of people in Karachi have recommended purchasing animals for sacrifice on the internet due to unsafe situation of law and order in the metropolis.  According to information, purchasing a goat for sacrifice on Eidul Azha has become a lot easier this year. No more boring search for the right choose or negotiating over the cost with the animal traders. Citizens used IT technological innovation to buy sacrificial animal on the eve of Eid as on the internet animal arranging service was first time provided in this city to prevent protection threats and complications.

How Does The Online Selling of Animals Happen:

The new trend of online goat market is providing photos, videos, and other descriptions such as the type and price of animals for sale at different web sites. Atif Babar, a resident of Shadman Town Karachi, who purchased two goats from the online goat market, he told that he had been drawn to the online markets due to option of paying a price based on the actual weight of the animal.

Why Online Goat Market is Better Than Traditional Market:

In the traditional cattle markets the customers are seen bargaining over the prices of the sacrificial animals and the animal dealers normally demand ten times higher prices of their cattle. In the online gallery, details such as the weight, number of teeth, age, photo, price and the name of animal are to help customers select the animal of his choice. The animals’ prices may be a little higher but this is often compensated by the option of having the animal delivered to you.

How Goat Market Websites Won the Trust of the Customers:

A resident of Karachi informed that if the animals are not the same as publicized on the web page, customers have the choice of canceling the deal with dealer.

Government Likely to Open Access to YouTube in Pakistan

For those of you who are sick of YouTube ban, would appreciate govt concerns over lifting ban from YouTube in Pakistan.

As reported earlier The Blockage of The Entire YouTube Website on protests and pressure from Muslim community in Pakistan due to the anti-Islam film, on orders of PM Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, the Federal Minister for Information Technology ordered PTA (Pakistan Telecommunication Authority).

We have been hearing news from different sources which were not giving any hopes of opening YouTube in near future. But I have just heard from reliable resources in ISP's that government is now likely to open YouTube and ban will be removed but only with the blockage of blasphemous material.

It merits mentioning here that YouTube is a source of education and also provides material related to teachings of Islam. As per a user of this blog "Banning Youtube was not a good idea" who commented on my blog on an article Monitoring of Pakistani E-mails, Phone Telephone calls as follows:

They should have banned the CONTENT only. Why am I not supporting the ban on Youtube is because I think it's the only website in the world with unfathomable data on ISLAM. I used to watch some great Islamic videos on it but now I can't. I used to answer to so many of those Atheists and anti-religion people on YouTube when they uploaded something against Islam. But now I can't. Good going PTA and the bloody government.

We have also seen a message about removing access from YouTube from The Interior Minister, Rehman Malik who has posted a tweet on his twitter account mentioning that he will talk to the government regarding the importance of YouTube which no doubt is wealth of knowledge, keeping in mind that it hurted the feelings of all Muslims. He promised to raise the issue in cabinet to open access on YouTube with the removal of Anti-Islam material.

Need a Fix of Security Issues and Bugs Related to ProPakistani.PK

Wednesday, October 24, 2012

As written previously About ProPakistani.PK SMS Service to get the issue fixed related to late delivery of messages sent by ProPakistani. I am a fan of this site and keep visiting it to observe all the new happenings on this blog. On this post Aamir responded to me and resolved the issue as quickly as one could imagine.

Whether it is related to replacement of gadgets or placement of ads on different places on the site I love it all. I also keep reporting issue to Aamir Attaa personally but sometimes I like to go public to make things social with other users as well so that visitors can also know what I have spent enough time to learn about. These are facts behind how ProPakistani website has become attractive and that’s why we love its appealing look that makes us a regular user of this website.

Above all what I want is the security of ProPakistani to save it from hackers and other relevant people who might broke into it due to the bugs and issues I have mentioned below. I think if I am not going to reveal it, they might not know about it. This is us users who see these issues and I consider it my duty to inform them. They have done a great job over the recent years and all members of it Pro Pakistanis as they write.

Today I have observed that ProPakistani is hosted on WordPress that makes it easy enough to customize things on the site. However also found some bugs and issues which needs to get fixed. Out of no way the dashboard of WordPress started appearing on my chrome page while I was reading one of ProPakistani article today tilted “Telenor Posts 11% Revenue Growth in Q3 2012”

I have pasted the screenshots below so that you can take a look at and share your views what exactly happened.

Previously I have also been looking to see the stats of the site on daily basis so that I can have an idea about how and where is all the traffic coming from on ProPakistani. Being a non-technical on this stuff, I look forward to learn this from Aamir and I am wondering how come thousands of comments are pending for moderation. I think they are spam comments.

Being hosted means all software and hardware runs in organization’s own data centers, and users access it using the internet, requiring only a PC client, internet connection/VPN connection. Because it is hosted, it eliminates the cost and complexity of building and maintaining a state-of-the-art system and allows any business on any budget to run a sophisticated data center for a fraction of the traditional cost. It can be implemented quickly, and provides tremendous flexibility in the locations and scalability.

Up-Front Infrastructure Costs for HDC

Most of the Hosted Data Center in Pakistan like Wateen Telecom  and PTCL allow you to rent data center functions over the Internet/VPN, with no infrastructure hardware or software costs except initial setup and configuration.

Hosted Data Center Can setup a Multi-Site Data Center

This is the ideal solution for quickly setting up a fully functional, affordable, multisite data center. Multisite capability means clients can log in anywhere, with just an Internet connection/VPN connection-at a home or office location.

Hosted Data Center Saves Money

Hosted Data Center saves you money up front, and ongoing. There is no infrastructure investment required up-front - no capital, no build outs, and no rewiring or cable pulling except initial setup or configuration cost. Ongoing, you don't pay maintenance fees or upgrade costs-that's all included in the monthly user fees. You pay for the capacity you need - no more. And HDC's solution requires no expensive technical staff to manage and maintain it.

Meets The Need to Substantially Increase Data Center Requirement in Future

Hosted Data Center is built from the ground up to scale to your changing needs. In fact, this is one of the strengths of this design. This system provides a truly "on demand" scalability, enabling you to ramp up or down to meet business needs. And, since it offers a fully hosted, Internet-based solution, you'll never need to upgrade hardware or software, or hire IT staff to support the solution.

HDC Service System is Reliable and Secure

HDC ensures the highest reliability by housing its applications on carrier grade hardware that resides in multi-layered security patrolled, disaster-proof facilities. It uses best practices including encryption to secure applications across the Internet and ensure communications with your customers are not at risk.

Co-location and Managed Servers

Co-location allows you to place your server in a rack in HDC data center and share its bandwidth as your own. Once you have a server set up, you physically bring it to its location and install it in a rack. It provide IPs, bandwidth and power to your server. Once it's up and running, you access it much like you would access a web site on a hosting provider. The difference being that you own the hardware.

With co-location, you can reduce your traffic back-haul costs and free up internal networks for other uses. Moreover, by outsourcing network traffic to a HDC’s one like Wateen Telecom and PTCL which have greater bandwidth capacity, web site and server access speeds should improve considerably. With Managed Server Services, you can access the robust, secure, redundant, infrastructure you need, without a significant up-front investment. Then tap into built-in scalability that lets you add middle ware or services at any time.

Managed Storage

Managed Storage Services provides on demand storage capacity, monitoring and management services for clients’ disk, backup and restore, and archive infrastructures in a security-rich environment. Combining best-in-class networking technologies with world-class service management helps enable highly available, cost-effective storage management.

Storage denominator could either me GB (Gigabyte) or TB (Terabyte). A gigabyte (GB) is a measure of computer data storage capacity and is "roughly" a billion bytes. A gigabyte is two to the 30th power, or 1,073,741,824 in decimal notation. The term is pronounced with two hard Gs. The prefix, "giga" comes from a Greek word meaning "giant."

A terabyte is a measure of computer storage capacity and is 2 to the 40th power or approximately a thousand billion bytes (that is, a thousand gigabytes).

Premise Based Data Center:

  • Traditional premise based systems require hosting of all data center equipment on customer premises and has following disadvantages:
  • Large up front investment for data center equipment and infrastructure.
  • Dedicated technical resources required for operations & maintenance of the equipment and facility.
  • Continuous investment required to keep technology current, as technology life cycle is very short and becomes obsolete in a matter of a few years.
  • Lack of quick scalability and provisioning for the customer.

Total Cost of Ownership Analysis:

Premise versus Hosted Data Center System

Return on investment evaluations are most often based on a number of tangible and intangible benefits.

While hosted data center solutions bring a number of benefits to the table, their impact on cost reduction contributes most effectively towards creation of a compelling business case.
